Selecting the Right Material for Plasitc Injection Molding Projects

We are meticulous about understanding the end use before starting production. The material must meet the chemical, thermal and physical properties required to function in the application of the final product. The material must also be moldable into the design, meet cosmetic requirements and be cost effective. We inquire about the environment, cosmetics, cost, design, and dimension stability. All of these factors determine the final material formulation.

Material Selection Considerations

Environment
R&D must have a precise definition of the environment in which the part will function.
Aesthetics
Surface appearance and color determine cosmetic acceptability. These features need to be defined before the mold is built.
Material Cost
The material has to be cost-effective while meeting all other requirements.
Application
Design must be appropriate for the material.
Dimensional requirements
For tight-tolerance parts, a slow shrinkage material is preferred.
